Erkki Veltheim and Sabina Maselli
Monday 28th October, 2013
1pm, SIA Theatre
Fresh from residencies in Iceland and Belgium, Erkki Veltheim and Sabina Maselli present an audiovisual collaboration that explores convergences and divergences between moving image projections, acousmatic soundscapes and live performance. Their work together, perhaps best described as a form of expanded cinema, is concerned with memory, myth and ritual. It often builds visual and sonic textures from materials collected from both the natural and the social environment, through field recordings and processing of old film and sound footage. The live performance is set against these pre-recorded elements, at times merging with them, at others emerging from them as a distinct counterpoint, in a continuous process of negotiation between the predetermined and the spontaneous." |
