Set Turnitin Assignments in Learning Portal

How to Set Up Turnitin Assignments

Note: Turnitin is an Internet-based plagiarism-prevention service to which LASALLE subscribes. Follow the steps below to create a Turnitin assignment within Learning Portal.

1. Turn on the editing on the upper right hand side or from course settings.

2. Go to the relevant section where you want the Assignment to be available.

3.  Select Add an Activity.  From the dropdown list, select Turnitin.  Turnitin then opens within Learning Portal.

4. If prompted, select "Paper Assignment" by clicking the radio button next to Paper Assignment if it is not currently selected. Click on the Next Step button.

5. Follow the steps below:

a. On the next page, enter the assignment title.
b. Enter the point value (optional).
c. Select start and due dates for the assignment.  Enter the post date for the assignment.  Note that the post date determines when marked papers or grades will be available for students to view.  The post date can be set before the due date.
d. To view the advanced assignment options, click on optional settings.

Important:  Please take note of the setting 'Generate Originality Reports for student submissions'.  If you wish to allow assignment resubmissions, select 'immediately (can overwrite reports until due date)' option.  A resubmission will completely overwrite the original submission. Only one submission at a time can exist for each student.  Originality reports for the second or subsequent submission will take 24hrs before the originality report can be displayed. Students can only resubmit until the assignment due date.
